IndieFlix was thrilled to welcome an incredible new channel into our On-Demand stable. Kids In The Spotlight has been helping some of the many foster youth in L.A. County tell their stories through film for the last ten years. Over the course of 10-15 weeks, students learn to write screenplays, cast, audition for and act the pages into a film, that they also produce and edit. All this is done in collaboration with some of LA’s finest writers, actors and directors, so the end result is a truly professional short film. For many, this is the first time they truly feel seen and heard. In a world where 40% of foster youth are dead, incarcerated or homeless, this program not only produces great films, it also gives these students tangible skills and connections. Many alumni now work in the film industry, and return to give back to ‘KITS’. Having a channel on IndieFlix not only allows these films to be seen, it also brings money back to the organization to continue this great work, as they receive revenue for every minute of every film watched.
