As Covid-19 cases decrease, the focus is increasingly turning to the 'Mirror Pandemic' of the worsening mental health of our society in response to the pandemic, particularly amongst the younger generations. Nationally, President Joe Biden announced his 'Health Equity Task Force', with primary objectives to equalize both access to healthcare and mental health care for all. Internationally, the World Health Organization (WHO) has just launched a 14-month global initiative to support artists and raise money for Covid-related mental health needs. Two great examples of how coming together, collaborating and listening can help us say that everything is going to be alright.
Mental Health Awareness Month... and Beyond
iNDIEFLIX keeps supporting people and communities through film and conversation. Mental Health Awareness Month in May is a great time to raise attention to this mirror pandemic, to help ensure that people who need help gain the awareness and encouragement to speak up. The three films in our trilogy lead on from each other, and anyone booking all three for the next school year will receive an entire 24-week SEL curriculum for FREE. The peer or teacher-led curriculum is easy to execute within the school week, and through discussion and exercises, helps build life-long healthy habits and coping tools. Previews will be available in April, for the 2021-22 school year.

Huge thanks to Calais Campbell and DJ Chark, who spoke openly and movingly to thousands of schools about how they handle the huge mental health pressures of the NFL, the importance of reaching out and how to support others. They were wonderful! We'll be posting clips on social media soon!
Facebook tips & resources
...speaking of social, we've just launched a new series on Facebook that takes a weekly theme from an iNDIEFLIX film or panel discussions, and provides tips and links to resources / articles that can help. Last week we focused on loss of control; this week it's how to notice and help those around you who are suffering from anxiety.
...and speaking of resources, we've updated how we support you up to and after your screenings. From now on, as soon as you book, you'll receive a full 'basket' of organized resources to help you promote in advance, manage the screening, discussion and questions, and be able to follow up with a host of links to reading, viewing and listening materials, as well as specialists for further exploration. Most of our post-screening material will shortly also be available on our website! You can explore the post-screening Angst, LIKE and The Upstanders resources right now by clicking on the Button links.
One part of what we do, that we don't often talk about, is our streaming platform for independent films. This pre-dates our own film production and community screenings, but is very much allied to the same mission to give voice to the marginalized, push for social change, build community, educate and entertain. In February we started a series of 2-week, 'pop-up' channels, to bring together groups of films from the 4,300 titles, with 'BlackVoices' and 'Aspects of Love'. This month, we're highlighting 'Comedy Gold' and new content from 'Seed & Spark', an amazing hub of social impact films.
About Us: A global streaming and screening distribution service of content for a purpose. Our life-changing film-based curriculum and programs have been featured in Variety, the New York Times, CNN, USA Today, NPR, Dr. Oz, Good Morning America and many more.
