The increased profile of May as Mental Health Awareness Month is great - the question is, what to do about it? And not just for May, but for the rest of the year. Throughout May, watch out for regular Facebook posts and blogs that turn the learnings from our films into a series of actionable tools, tricks and brain hacks. But from now on, and importantly for the next school year, we're delighted to introduce a comprehensive program to help schools, corporations and parents help those they care about build resources for life-long health and well-being: The Creative Coping Toolkit
Starter Tip: Brain Boost with Doorway Affirmations
Doors symbolize new beginnings; out with the old, in with the new. Every time you walk through a doorway, say something nice about yourself, something good about your day, or an appreciation of someone in your life. This re-sets the brain to positive thinking, and if you do it every time you walk through a door you'll be amazed at the long-term dopamine lift.
The Creative Coping Toolkit: A Comprehensive Mental Health Program for Schools, Corporations and Families -
Tailored to the Social and Emotional well-being of middle and high school students for the 2021-22 school year, this flexible, turnkey program of 24 self-contained learning modules can be used in any class, by any teacher, at any time. Built around our Mental Health Trilogy, the insights from each film translate into actionable, life-long strategies and habits for better mental health and happiness.
The Toolkit Preview introduces the program, what each of the 24 sessions cover, and how they can easily integrate into any classroom subject for middle and high school. It also includes the first three sessions - built around Angst - to give you a sense of the session flow. Check it out below, or just reply to this email for more information
The themes that the Creative Coping Toolkit helps people deal with are universal - anxiety, social media addiction and dealing with bullying, either personally or through others' experiences. Corporate demand for our films has been steadily increasing; leaders recognize that they offer a safe and supportive way to open up important conversations, and ensure that employees know how to access available resources. Corporations purchasing the Mental Health Trilogy will now have access to a workplace-focused SEL program that employees can dip in and out of for helpful exercises, tools and tips to support themselves and their loved ones.
We know that a lot of parents watch our films, either in dedicated screenings or at home, with their families. Scilla Andreen, iNDIEFLIX CEO and the director / producer of the Mental Health Trilogy has written a companion book for families to read and practice together. As well as game-ifying talking about and understanding our feelings, it is full of fun exercises and practical tips to stay mentally healthy and connected.
"Per usual, Scilla is masterful at sparking important conversations among families. It’s all too easy to zone out and avoid self-inquiry / reflection in our digitally driven world. Glad this book exists to help fight the trend."
