When a group of peaceful protestors filed into the streets of Gwangju, martial law troops opened fire on the civilians, indiscriminately killing women and children alike. Twenty-five years later, a group of Gwangju citizens including Soonji and Jaegu is preparing to commemorate the massacre by staging a recreation at the provincial government's civic center when Soonji becomes emotionally overwhelmed while recalling the sacrifice her parents made in order to give her a good upbringing.
