After losing his restaurant, chef Clay Maguire must start his career all over again. Pushing 40 and with no "corporate skill-set," Clay enters the strange world of the Unemployable Interviewees of America. He soon meets others who share his plight: Liz, who spent her youth traveling in the Peace Corps and now finds that there's no place for her in American work life; Bob, a manufacturing engineer in a country that doesn't manufacture anything anymore and Charlie, whose job as a corporate HR guy is so miserable that he only hires people he hates. Spurred by a complete lack of encouragement by his job counselor Sam and the self-serving "wisdom" of his homeless pal Nick (Kurtwood Smith, That '70s Show), Clay must survive the most bizarre series of job interviews imaginable as he finds the courage to start all over again, at the Entry Level.
