A documentary filmed in Northern Uganda about a religious fanatic named Joseph Kony who abducts, then brainwashes children turning then into "child soldiers." Since 1990, Kony has kidnapped more than 12,000 children and forced them to commit unspeakable atrocities against their families and communities. This film is about the efforts of the Ugandan people to rehabilitate these children and reintroduce them into society.

This film may well be the most memorable of the hundreds of documentaries I have seen. Without hyperbole (not that it's needed) or sensationalism, it shows the incredible evil perpetrated against the innocent children of Uganda, as they are kidnapped to become killer soldiers -- some forced to hack to death one another, their loved ones, their teachers. At the same time the film shows us, without sentimentality or glorification, the phenomenal goodness and thoughtful intelligence of the Ugandan adult men and women who care for the children once they are rescued, trying to give them as much of a "normal" childhood as possible under the circumstances. I saw this film a month ago and it hasn't left me since. It is a real eye-opener, and everyone should see it. Despite the difficult subject matter, this is an inspiring film.
