Two filmmakers clash creatively in mid-production, resulting in a metafilm duel of genres as they write the story they are living. Both will stop at nothing to preserve their own vision for the film. As the battle grows, they discover that their imagination is the limit for their arsenal, and find themselves in lethal combat, where only one can emerge triumphant.

I knew right away, after reading the first
draft of “Official Selection,” that this
project would be a fun, yet challenging
undertaking. The first time this project
was discussed, I told my producing partners
of Triptych Pictures, “We have to make this
film... and we have to blow up a car. No CG,
no faking it, we’re really blowing up a
car.”
Like most filmmakers, we had become used to
doing what we could with what we had while
maintaining the integrity of our work. We
decided this film would not be an exception
and we committed to investing what we needed
to in order to bring out the best in the
script.
We agreed that making another film indicative
of the existing independent or commecerial
circuits wasn’t interesting to us. So we
decided to make a film about the cliches
we had grown to hate within the filmmaking
process and have a little fun with it.
The result ... a meta-film that captures the
common frustration between two filmmakers
with opposing views on what they think makes
a great film.
Hopefully this will be as fun to watch as it was to make. Enjoy!
