NOTE FROM THE FOUNDERS

WELCOME to our first IndieFlix newsletter!!!

Can you imagine going to a film festival, falling in love with a wonderful little movie, a clever short film or a moving documentary? You wish you could discuss and recommend this movie to others but then it never finds distribution so no one ever sees it. Now you can. Our goal is to create an on-line independent film community that celebrates the independent filmmaker and lets the audience decide what they want to see. Essentially, IndieFlix is a store for undistributed independent films.   In addition to filmmakers retaining their film rights, there are no fees whatsoever.  We want to help filmmakers find their audience by providing them with the necessary tools.  We manufacture, ship, and fulfill all films on the highest quality DVD.

We believe in the passion and artistry of filmmakers. We also believe that filmmakers know their audience best. IndieFlix is a grassroots approach to address an age-old problem that seems to favor only a handful of the many thousands of filmmakers out there. We believe that every movie has an audience, every filmmaker has a story to tell and each story has the right to be shared.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG joins IndieFlix Advisory Board

We are very proud to announce that Whoopi Goldberg has joined our IndieFlix advisory board! Whoopi, an accomplished comedienne, actor and filmmaker truly embraces the spirit of IndieFlix and what we represent. Community support is essential for filmmakers to have a voice and we are very grateful to have Whoopi’s support and encouragement.

GARY WAX JOINS INDIEFLIX

Gary Wax, former acquisitions executive at Miramax for the last six years has teamed up with IndieFlix to help spread the word.  Gary is spearheading our acquisitions and we are honored to have a person of Gary’s stature onboard. Welcome Gary!

INDIEFLIX GIVES CASH AWARDS at Stony Brook Film Festival

CONGRATULATIONS to this year’s winner of the IndieFlix sponsored ‘Audience Choice Awards’ at Stony Brook Film Festival! Best Feature, with a $1000 cash award, went to “Smile” a beautiful tale about life changing experiences- directed by Jeffrey Kramer, produced by Kern & Kip Konwiser.  Best Short, with a $500 cash award, went to “Wear Something Nice” a comedy about a woman who tries to get her act together-directed by Camille Cellucci, written and produced by Jacquie Barnbrook. Thank you to Executive Director, Alan Inkles and his SBFF team. Thanks to all that attended the Stony Brook Film Festival and voted for their favorites, as well as to all the films that took part in the festival. We chose to sponsor the audience choice awards because we feel that the power and the voice of the audience, best represent what IndieFlix is about.

SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL WRAP UP

At SIFF, we sponsored 12 films out of the New American Cinema category. The films IndieFlix sponsored included: Adam and Steve, Missing in America, Swimmers, The Civilization of Maxwell Bright, Cruel But Necessary, Americano, Max and Grace, Ellie Parker, Deepwater, Steal Me, Her Minor Thing, and Police Beat.

Hats off to Seattle International Film Festival for another successful year!
